About Us

The RVHRA started as the Human Resource Exchange (HRX), an informal group of local HR professionals interested in networking. In 2000, the HRX group took on the responsibility for compiling the local salary survey formerly prepared by the Twin State Coalition for Health and Human Resources.

The RVHRA became an official affiliated chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2001. This national organization represents more than 150,000 human resource professionals around the world.

“A little over ten years ago a group of human resource managers, coordinated by consultant Jim Barker and myself, began meeting monthly. The spirit of HRX was informal and supportive, each participant bringing “on my desk” issues for discussion. The group grew to include representatives of well over fifty companies in the Upper Valley. More formal programs with guest speakers and a delightful luncheon at Simon Pearce evolved over time. It is a natural progression that this group became a chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, broadening its scope, tapping into national resources and networks, encouraging continuing professional development, and meeting a real need in the Upper Valley.”

We encourage any HR Professional or any business professional who serves in the role of human resources for their organization, to attend our meetings.
